HOW WE DO IT
Shorter is sweeter. Casting directors don’t have time to sit through 5 minute reels, nor do they need to in order to understand what your bring as an actor.
Our reels move at pace. The scenes don’t outstay their welcome. The camera will always favour you over your scene partner.
All good reels start on a striking shot of the actor. I recommend opening with a short moment or scene. It can be a couple of lines, or a few more. Either way, it’ll serve as a brief, but impactful introduction to you and what is to come. It can be comedic, dramatic, or just a lovely moment of introspection. I can write this for you if you’d like me to.
Your name will then appear on screen. Then we’ll move onto our first scene. The scene can be a continuation of the previous moment we opened the reel with, or it can be a completely separate, contrasting scene. I’m also happy to write this for you.
Once we’re done with that, we’ll move onto another scene. After that, the reel will end.
